What is Physical Therapy?
Physical Therapy combines different treatment techniques to decrease pain and improve movement. Usually people come to physical therapy because something hurts and they cannot move correctly or the pain affects performing their daily tasks. Through techniques such as muscle stretching, taping, therapeutic modalities and, most importantly, specific exercises, the therapist and trainer can help people decrease their pain, rebalance their muscles and improve their movement patterns.
How do I get started in Physical Therapy?
You will need to do the following:
- Obtain a Prescription from a physician.
- Register by calling our Office Manager at (313) 943-5479
- The Office Manager will check your Health Insurance and explain your coverage to you. Once your insurance is verified, we will set up a time for an Evaluation in the Clinic.
- Some health insurance requires an Authorization from your Primary Care Doctor.
- Some insurances have a co-pay or deductible.
- When the evaluation is completed, appointments for further treatments will be set up based on your needs.
- Each therapy session lasts about 45-60 minutes.
- Please dress appropriately for each session to be ready to exercise.
About the Clinic:
We have all of the equipment necessary for complete Physical Therapy. In the Clinic room, we have treatment tables, hot and cold packs, ultrasound and electric stimulation machines and traction, as well as hand weights and various balls and bands. We also have access to The Center's gym equipment. The therapist and trainer will determine what equipment is best for each patient.
